Ranking of MBA Schools in Australia:

Below is a list of 2007 ranking of universities according to their MBA program.

The rankings above are based on those carried out by Asia Week with additional information from the Financial Times research into global MBA rankings, the Melbourne Institute, AFR, and the Australian Education Network.

According to latest 2008 ranking two institutes from Australia were included in top 100 MBA schools all over the world.

  • The Australian Graduate School of Management (University of New South Wales) is ranked at 39 in the list.
  • Melbourne Business School is ranked at 75.

The Financial Times included two Australian business schools in its research into MBA programs (2007 Ranking).

  • The Australian Graduate School of Management (University of New South Wales) was ranked at 49 in the list.
  • Melbourne Business School was ranked at 79.

I will try to post MBA Ranking 2008 of Australian Universities when ever it is released. But according to MBA World ranking 2008, only two Australian universities manage to get position in top 100; which is the same as last year. In 2006 three universities from Australia were in top 100 MBA world ranking.

MBA Fee

Tuition Fee Of MBA In Australia:

In this article I won’t mention the tuition fee of MBA programs offered by various universities in Australia but will try to let you think about the content of program. International student should not only think about fee, but should consider what is being offered for the fee.

The Australia Master of Business Administration programs on offer come with a wide variety of fees. There are many reasons for this including the most basic one that what is being offered is not the same in each case. For example, there might be differences in duration or facilities and materials that account for part of the difference in the total fee.

It is therefore important to consider what is being offered for the fee rather than just the fee itself. It is up to the student to explore exactly what it is that they will be paying for and whether or not this represents value for money in both an absolute and a relative sense.

The fees you find in respective university websites are not comparing the same things. The differences may be partly due to:

  • Programs running for different lengths of time (from 1 year to 2 years full time)
  • Programs having different sets of infrastructure and overhead costs (with online programs having lower costs than those held in the major cities)
  • Programs offering different levels of contact with some programs having intensive residential and others based around the students being required to undertake a greater amount of private study.

So, it’s better to look for content of your interest first and then see the fee. I suggest visiting the official university website for latest and updated content and their fee, study period and facilities offered.

MBA Requirements

Entry Requirements For MBA In Australia:

Entry requirements vary considerably. Institutions generally require a Bachelor Degree from a recognized tertiary institution, several years of management experience, plus good communication skills in written and spoken English. Most courses require an IELTS or TOEFL qualification if English is not your first language.

Business schools may also require personal references, evidence of career progression, and a personal statement.

The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is an aptitude test for applicants to business schools. It is, however, not essential for most institutions and is generally used as an optional extra, or for people who do not meet other entry requirements.

Application Dates:

Application dates vary between Australian MBA providers. Some institutions offer two intakes a year, with programs generally starting in January and July; others offer a three-semester year with intakes usually in February, July and November. A few institutions also offer four intakes per year.

Alternatives To The MBA:

The traditional MBA has given rise to a range of other programs. The ‘executive MBA’ (EMBA), for example, is typically a shorter, more intensive advancement course designed for senior managers who may lack the tertiary academic qualifications required for entry to other MBA programs. There are a number of other programs for managers, most at the Masters level, such as the Master of Management (MMgt) and the Master of Technology (MTech). Such courses are often aimed at people currently employed in or seeking careers in specific industries. Other courses such as the Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MEI) are designed for people intending to start innovative new businesses or play a leading role in an innovative unit of an established organization.
